First Step © for 6 to10 months: On the Move

As babies begin to crawl and become increasingly mobile we will learn about the movement components of commando crawling and crawling on all fours, and discuss why it is so important to reach developmental milestones in the right order. You’ll learn how cognitive stimulation, such as object permanence, can influence separation anxiety, and how to support your baby through this emotional stage. We’ll also explore games and activities to improve fine motor skills, adaptability, balance, and to help your baby make the most of their time on the floor, moving more effectively and enjoying their body.

The course will be held in English.

First Step is a holistic approach rooted in the Feldenkrais method. It emphasizes the deep connection between sensory-motor learning and emotional development — how a baby’s ability to roll, reach, or sit is closely linked to their sense of confidence, curiosity, and openness to the world. The approach also highlights the vital role of the environment we create for our babies — through touch, tone of voice, responsiveness, and the experiences we offer. These early interactions shape how babies move, learn, see themselves, and relate to others. Our goal is to provide each baby with optimal conditions for development, and to help them build both a strong sense of confidence and a solid motor foundation, that will serve them throughout life.
